I feel like the number of times I get called some variation of "If Harry [Potter] Went to Harvard" should make me entitled to own that name for my future pupper
I am so fascinated about metabolic and brain health... and I see every day with many patients! the one improve te other and viceversa. it is interesting to, as a curious little woman, to speculate about the why... lactate is a signaling molecule and support energy for neurons and also the production of glutamate. to much kineurine and then maybe quinolinic acid maybe are signs of alert about something going wrong (inflammation, energy scarsity, inulin resistance, infection, misfolding proteins...)... do you think over expression of IDO1 in AD is maybe a way to inhibit lactate signals and so the glutamate hyper activity and the consequent excitotoxicity? oh oh oh what a great opportunity to be her my super hero @nick
Love the enthusiasm... I would bet against IDO hyper-activity being a way to reduce glutamate excitotoxicity... the IDO phenomenon seems pathologic rather than defensive... at least in my reading
and yes know I am thinking clearly and think about acute vs cronic conditions... in AD maybe there is a cronic IDO1 over activity and can not be a way to protect (that may be make sense in acute conditions) - always you teach me
Thanks more ammo for me to use. Since I am a Low Carb Cardiologist/ Electrophysiologist, I'm not always taken seriously on neurocognitive diseases. It's all Electrophysiology. The opposite journey of David Diamond. Him brain to heart, me heart to brain. As for dogs, and Residency it only works if you have room mates to share responsibilities
A girlfriend who is very passionate about getting a Corgi... and a dog food brand that might be willing to fully fund my pupper in exchange for mentions in some IG stories... call my conflicted by cuteness!
Lactate is transported across the BBB via carrier-mediated systems, specifically monocarboxylate transporters and by diffusion, but it also produced de novo in the brain
The dog and I both thank you for your work in this critical area of research 🔬
Thanks Ernie. Appreciate you... and I want a dog :( ... soon!
Just don’t name him Harry
It’s taken

Ok then 👍👍🐕🐕
I'll settle for an Owl Named Errol... no rats named Peter though...

energy demand vs energy capacity
you are speedy gonzales :))))))))))
great!
lifestyle interventions are great and the new researches very cute
PF068 is a great name for that drug. Penny Figtree born 1968. 🩷
COINCIDENCE?

Hey Nic
We need you and your energy to be directed at fixing us
The love from a dog may take from that 😂😂🐼🐼⛓️⛓️
Never... love is a well of energy that is infinity deep
You are infinitely wise
Is that possible at 28? Maybe I'm just great at parroting platitudes?
Nice find.
Questions
1- Does lactate cross the blood brain barrier so if so does exercise in muscles that then produce lactate get to the brain?
2- Where do ketones come in? Are ketones just a different fuel that can replace low levels of lactate?
3- Eating fish is good but how bout SPM’s/Resolvins instead of epa/dha for anti inflammatory effects?
4- Is there a gene snp that affects this “node” and is it being tested?

Berberine neuroprotective effect is well researched. It's truly remarkable. You need to add it
Send me your best paper on the topic. BTW have your tried Consensus? https://consensus.app/search/
Every week a new impressive paper about Berberine neuroprotective effect: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00592-024-02411-0

Another example of how exercise while fasting is the hallmark for LMHR.
Certainly a strong correlate... but not necessary...
You could do the experiment and ask the Facebook group to change their exercise routine to see if their cholesterol drops 🙏
Hi Nick,
Check this. Intranasal berberine prevented cognitive deficit
