Great about the olives, even better the 30 day challenge. Kits ordered!

I'm 72 and definitely noticed my strength declining over the last 10 years. Looks like I'll be doing an N=1 with Hypereleon. Thanks.

Nick, —We know that sleep has clearance mechanisms for amyloid proteins (Shakespeare's "Sleep that knits the raveled sleeve of care ..."). The intuition that ketone bodies providing, not only clean brain fuel, but also acting as cleansing agents has been on my mind for a while; as well as conversely, that excessive reliance on exogenous sugars is damaging (Type 3 diabetes) to neurons & glial cells.

Yes "glymphatics" a play on glia and lymphatics, since the brain doesn't have a proper lymphatic system. The ketone body mechanism is complementary.

What I seem to get from this piece is that MCU and MCUR1 increase calcium ion influx, which activates PDH (through PDP) that increases mitochondrial energy and somehow helps preserve muscle strength and mass. Is this an accurate précis? So, question, could the same effect produced by consuming oleuropein rich EVOO be also achieved by taking a PDH activator like dichloroacetate? Interesting to also note that down regulation of PDH (through activation of PDK) seems implicated in statin related myopathy.

You're correct, in theory. Although I'm not entirely sure about dosing.

Interesting but it's still a mice study. I'd love to see it not only in humans but also in well-fed humans - with lot of meat and probably in ketosis.

It's not just a ouse study. The mechanistic elements are, indeed, done in mice or in vitro for practical purposes. However, the are human data, include the decrease in mitochondrial calcium influx and MCUR1 levels with age and sarcopenia. Furthermore, there are human muscular conditions associated with MCUR1 mutations.

Oh, cool. I suppose they are comparing humans on SAD to humans on SAD+olive oil, don't they?
