I think it's easy for adults to choose to avoid the sugary junk food that also happens to have dyes. But what is so, so hard is navigating this with children. Until I had children myself, I had no idea how much sugar and processed foods children are offered all the time, eveywhere. I don't buy it, but these foods are still offered at school, by friends/family, of course at parties. I try to do what I can, like bringing lots of better options anywhere we go and setting some boundaries. I would love to have any improvement to the food that's constantly offered to my children everywhere we go, even if it is an improvement on junk.
Thanks for Sharing El. I don't have kids, but I've been a kid. And if at 12 you tried to take away my cereal and sweet treats... well... there would have been hell. It's a broad problem and we need to work on shifting societal norms. The fact that you are thoughtful about these matters is hugely meaningful.
The first time I read a headline about the dyes in Fruit Loops I laughed. The irony of bring concerned about the dyes in Fruit Loops, but otherwise not concerned. I'm old enough to remember when they were introduced. Of course we asked Mom to buy them. My siblings and I all agreed that weren't very good. We went back to good stuff, Frosted Flakes, Sugar Pops, and Sugar Smacks :)
Amen Nick I am glad that they pointed out difference in the froot loops but like you said it's just a bowl of sugar in the end and it gets away from the big question of why aren't we eating whole foods instead of processed junk
Something tells me RFKjr knows food dyes and non-organically grown foods are not the main problem, but he needed to start gently with the general public.
Is that starting gently? Also the "he doesn't know" was in reference to the specific matter of Red40 and Yellow6 impact on IBD via mechanism explained. There's no reason he should know this. It's just a thumbnail and hook intended to be provocative.

Another educational insight Nic
Thank you 🙏
Thanks Ernie :)

The "good stuff" ... interesting turn of phrase ;)... I was a Cinnamon Toast Crunch child myself

Spot on.
that's a huge huge problems!
and we have to think about the accumulation of different dyes in a day
a bit from red, a bit from yellow, a bit of preservative, a bit of veg oils....
and there are some high risk people such as kids, older people, low income people
and notice: many medication have dyes
let's speak about it
I'm always game for "speaking about it" with those who are willing to think deeply
