I wonder what your take is on these articles which, for some, implicates HLA-B27 antigen to IBS: Mielants H, Veys EM, Cuvelier C, De Vos M, Botelberghe L. For autoimmune conditions in general - and I'm sure there's overlap with IBS/IBD - there are generally predisposing HLA types... very well documented for things like ankylosing spondylitis, MS, etc. So I wouldn't be surprised about an HLA-IBS/IBD link
