Today’s HubermanLab Podcast Episode #224 was packed with discussion points that had me stroking my chin and clapping my hands. Here are my favorite two points from the episode.
Great perspective Nick. If any media outlet is not interested in nuanced, science based, nutrition and health research, (especially when you can interview the actual researcher), they are only doing a disservice to their audience, and ultimately, their organization. There is an ever increasing number of people that are starving for science based diet and lifestyle information that can improve our life span and health span. Keep up the great work!
Regarding your query on 14 April email: " . . . But what do you think? What would you do in my shoes? If you’re liberal, would you appear on Fox to talk about metabolic health? If you’re conservative, would you appear on CNN to talk about metabolic health?"
Simple: Agree to appear on Fox News, Epoch Times, and Daily Mail. Nobody watches CNN or MSNBC. There is nothing "political" about facts, per se. Your objective is to share the truth, not to augment or subvert viewers' biases. Carry on.
I transitioned from vegan to carnivore. I will admit that I assume that the majority of my fellow carnivores are right-leading politically. This will definitely be changing over time as more people switch their diet.
"The Sexual Politics of Meat: A Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory" is a book that connects meat-eating and misogyny. But now I understand that the problem is the misogyny not the eating of meat. These two things never should have been entwined.
Nick,—my dear friend, you know you'll get a contrarian opinion from me: 𝚘𝚏 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎 𝚍𝚒𝚎𝚝 𝚒𝚜 𝚙𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚜! IMHO, if you think about it for a moment, the 𝚛𝚎𝚟𝚘𝚕𝚞𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚛𝚢 path you have embarked upon, N = 1 experimentation (self-experimentation with objective data transparently presented & analyzed), is precisely the "𝖐𝖓𝖔𝖜 𝖙𝖍𝖞𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖋" ideology & methodology that got everyone riled up enough in ancient Athens to force Socrates to drink hemlock!
When I wrote this paragraph:
«A Western Diet [WD] has Ω6/Ω3 (ω6/ω3) Fatty Acid [FA] imbalance (>>1), especially with modernity's "𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘝𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘺" of unnatural low-fat diets, since it favors unstable industrially manufactured lubricants* over stable animal fats** that clog mitochondrial energy production. Additionally, factory produced oils flood the organism with a FA monotype versus the >1,000 FA forms composing human cellular structures. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙨: 𝙎𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙊𝙞𝙡𝙨! That's why grass-fed or wild meats matter. They contain the correct Ω6/Ω3 (ω6/ω3) balance.
* Oils are FA's liquid at room temperature & are rapidly oxidized, i.e., they quickly get 𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙙, yes —𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙞𝙡!!
Dang! I have been saying that cells don't care about politics or religious beliefs for a long time.
Agree... just loved the way Mark phrased it.
keep going
this is the way I want to be and become
N = 1 // no labels // free conscious choices
show must go on !!!!!
:)!
Never without your insights! You make me a curious strong happy engaged fellow 💥🧠🙌🏽👊🏽

Thanks Shaun. Appreciate it.

My LDL went from 120 to 240 . I started 1.25 mg Crestor to see if that lowers it by 30%, per Crestor's estimate. I am 83 w a1c of 5.6.
Did it? That's a pretty low dose. I saw a 32.5% drop on 20mg Crestor when I did a 6 week expt
I actually did three things
1.25 mg of Crestor
5 g of zetia
Reduced saturated fat to 30% of my caloric intake
In three months by a cholesterol fell from 240 to 88
So in addition to being a lie, mass hyper responder, I am a hyper responder to medication
In all seriousness, people who are allergic to statins, should try Crestor and low dose
Carefully lay out your evidence and let the chips fall........

Like I said, diets is politics... but it shouldn't be... cells don't have a political ideology. Love how Mark phrased it.
